UON joins ranks of top 250 global universities
The University of Newcastle (UON) is proud to be recognised for the first time as one of the top 250 universities in the world in the fiercely contested QS World University Rankings.
UON Vice-Chancellor, Professor Caroline McMillen, said UON’s rise into the top 250 global universities reflects the University’s commitment to excellence in education, research and innovation.
“This result is a testament to UON’s strong performance across all disciplines in our comprehensive research-intensive university,” Professor McMillen said.
“We are proud to stand as a global leader harnessing research excellence to drive innovation and economic growth across our regions through engagement with industry, business and community.”
“In particular, we are delighted to see this international recognition of our strong employer reputation as a university that delivers industry-capable graduates.”
UON has consistently improved its global standings in the QS World University Ranking, rising more than 50 places in the last three years.
“Today’s result highlights our commitment to delivering education and conducting research that will make our nation and our world more prosperous, resilient and equitable,” Professor McMillen said.
The QS World University Ranking, which assesses more than 3,800 institutions worldwide, is made up of six indicators to measure a university’s performance: academic reputation, employer reputation, number of citations of a university’s research (scaled to size of institution), ratio of academic staff to students, percentage of international staff, and percentage of international students.
