Awarding academic excellence

Celebrating Excellence in Education

In recognition of teaching and learning excellence, the Faculty held our annual Excellence in Education ceremony in April. Top students and award-winning staff from the 2014 academic year joined our generous prize donors for a great evening at the University of Newcastle Conservatorium.

The 'Celebrate 50' instalment of the Excellence in Education event saw over 75 prizes awarded to both recent graduates and continuing undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Faculty recognised those who completed their honours theses in 2014 as well as the contribution of PASS leaders to the success of their classmates. Seven lecturers were presented with Excellence in Teaching awards, highlighting that great academic achievement is underpinned by high calibre teaching.

Professor Jim Psaros was the master of ceremonies for this annual event for the ninth and final time before his retirement in late April. Professor Psaros' contribution to recognition of Education Excellence has shaped the event into what it is today.

After the formalities, proud family members and friends were invited to enjoy refreshments and chat with external donors and Faculty staff. The Faculty appreciates the continued support and generosity of our donors for helping us to recognise our high achieving students.
