University hosts Hunter Disability Day event

To recognise the International Day of Disability, the University of Newcastle will host The Real Factor – an X-Factor style event to raise awareness of the abilities of young people with a disability.


To recognise the International Day of Disability, the University of Newcastle will host The Real Factor – an X-Factor style event to raise awareness of the abilities of young people with a disability.

Close to 400 people will gather in the University’s Griffith Duncan Theatre on Friday 2 December for a day of performance and celebration.

The Real Factor is the key activity in the Hunter region celebrating the International Day of Disability.

Participants are from regional post-secondary disability services from the Hunter, Central Coast and Taree.

The event aims to promote the inclusion of people with a disability in university, vocational education and training, and employment.

Date: Friday 2 December 2011

Time: 9am – 3.30pm

The event will be opened by Professor Kevin McConkey, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Global Relations) and performers will take to the stage from approximately 9.15am.

Location: Griffith Duncan Theatre, University of Newcastle Callaghan campus.
