Newcastle brokers deal with Sydney college

The University of Newcastle has forged a strong partnership with one of Sydney's most prestigious private higher education providers to deliver more versatile study options for business students.

The University of Newcastle has forged a strong partnership with one of Sydney’s most prestigious private higher education providers to deliver more versatile study options for business students.

The International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) and the University today signed an agreement that will allow the University’s Bachelor of Business degree to be undertaken across two locations.

Business students will undertake their first year studies at ICMS’s Manly campus, and the second and third year at the University’s Newcastle campus.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nicholas Saunders, said he hoped this new partnership was the beginning of a long and mutually-beneficial relationship between the two institutions.

“The International College of Management, Sydney is one of the country’s most awarded private higher education providers and the University is pleased to be partnering with them,” Professor Saunders said.

“The agreement provides a channel for students to study the Bachelor of Business in both Newcastle and Sydney and will strengthen the University’s commitment to providing a rich learning experience.”

International College of Management Sydney Managing Director, Frank Prestipino, said they would be welcoming both international and domestic students into the program.

“Newcastle has a strong academic reputation and this is a great opportunity to collaborate with the University to offer a business program that is in the interests of a diverse range of students,” Mr Prestipino said.

“Under the partnership, Newcastle academic staff located at the ICMS campus will also take a mentoring role with our staff, particularly in the area of research.”

Applications through the Universities Admissions Centre are now open for study in 2012.
