Boost your career with $10,000 Leadership Award
Winning the 2010 Leadership Award has given the councillor and Cancer Council Hunter North West Regional Manager new insight into how he wants to develop his professional and personal life, and has helped him to build stronger ties in business and the greater community.
“Winning the Award has not only given me greater confidence in my skills, but has helped me revaluate how my skills can be of benefit to the greater community,” Cr Connell said.
“It has broadened my network of contacts and has provided me with the opportunity to enhance my professional skills and learn more about what makes an effective leader.”
The 2011 Leadership Award is now open for nominations. Cr Connell is encouraging people to apply for the award and the opportunity to win a $10,000 scholarship to provide education and training opportunities to develop their leadership skills.
“I have used the $10,000 Leadership Development Scholarship to contribute to the cost of my Master of Business Administration studies through the University and will attend an Australian Institute of Company Directors professional development course.”
University of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nicholas Saunders, said the Leadership Award seeks to contribute to the future leadership of our region.
“The Leadership Award encourages and recognises emerging young leaders in business and the community,” Professor Saunders, said.
“Investing in our young people today will reap great rewards for the community tomorrow.”
The Leadership Award is open to people aged from 25 to 39 years of age who live and work in the Central Coast, the Hunter and Mid-North Coast.
