More Parking and travel options for students and staff ‘On the Move’

More car parking spaces, a new carpooling system and online transport information have been launched for students and staff travelling to the University of Newcastle Central Coast campus.

More car parking spaces, a new carpooling system and online transport information have been launched for students and staff travelling to the University of Newcastle Central Coast campus.

A free car park with an additional 270 car parking spaces has been negotiated at the Tall Timbers Pony Club, in Ourimbah, and will be connected to the campus by a convenient shuttle service for the first six weeks of semester.

Complementing the additional carpark is an online resource, On the Move – travel options to campus, which is a one stop shop for information on ways to get to campus and has been updated with the latest information on buses and trains, the shuttle service and the University’s new carpooling system.

“The carpooling service is a first for the University. By filling in details online, students and staff will be matched with other travellers interested in saving time, money and reducing their carbon footprint by sharing a ride to campus,” Facilities Management Director, Trevor Gersden, said.

“The carpooling service makes great sense. Not only will it help students and staff save money, minimise their carbon footprint and meet new people, it will help ease traffic congestion in and around the University.”
