Inspiring Mid-North Coast residents to pursue tertiary education options is the aim of a new website launched today by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, the University of Newcastle and other education providers.
The Mid Coast Uni Portal is a joint initiative of the Council, the University of Newcastle, North Coast TAFE and other universities. It will provide a ‘one stop shop’ for information on tertiary study options, alternative pathways, financial assistance, special entry schemes and scholarships provided by the institutions.
Pro Vice-Chancellor - External Relations of the University of Newcastle, Professor Stephen Crump, said the University was pleased to be part of this important initiative.
“The portal will be an easy to use resource for school leavers and people considering further education,” Professor Crump said.
“It will help people of all ages and backgrounds realise that a university degree is an achievable goal and that there are many options available to them to expand their horizons without having to leave the area they love.”
Year 12 students played a major role in the creation of the portal that also has its own Facebook page.
“By logging onto the portal prospective students can work their way through the programs and study options available at the Port Macquarie campus, and from other education providers,” Professor Crump said.
