Breakfast for breast cancer
University of Newcastle Central Coast campus staff and students will host a Pink Ribbon Breakfast on Monday October 25 to raise money for breast cancer research and patient care.
Staff from Student Support Services and students from Blue Gum House, the on-campus accommodation, are hoping to beat last year’s figure of $2,000.
"It is such a worthy cause. There are staff and students whose lives have been touched by breast cancer, which is why we have organised the Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the last three years," said event organiser Carolyn Lewis from the University's Student Support Service.
"We sold hundreds of bacon and egg rolls last year and we expect to be very busy again this year."
Students and staff will start cooking from 8am. As well as the breakfast, the University is selling Pink Ribbon merchandise and is raffling a patchwork quilt hand-made by Mrs Lewis. All proceeds go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
