Year 12 students hoping to attend university in 2011 have the opportunity to gain vital on-the-job experience as part of an exciting industry scholarship scheme.

The University of Newcastle Industry Scholarship Scheme (UNISS) has provided generous industry supported scholarships for students since 1998 and in 2011 is offering 30 industry supported scholarships.

The scholarships have been provided by a range of companies across the Hunter Region and aim to give students industry experience while helping to cover their living expenses and study costs.

Manager of the UNISS program, Angela Samuels, said there was an exciting mix of scholarships available for 2011 in a number of areas including engineering, surveying, computer science and environmental science.

“Industry scholarships are open to students looking to study at the University of Newcastle next year. If you get a scholarship it can make a world of difference to your experience at university,” she said.
