Teachers' Visit Day at the University
University of Newcastle researchers will share their knowledge with school teachers from across the Hunter and Central Coast, at the second annual Teachers' Visit Day, today.
The researchers will present more than 60 information sessions designed to provide inspiration for teachers and give them ideas to take back to the classroom. Topics include alleviating gender and sexual prejudice in the classroom; cooperative learning; working with chant in the primary music classroom, implementing quality physical education programs in schools and using virtual laboratories in secondary education.
The event has been jointly organised by the School of Education in the Faculty of Education and Arts, and the University's Centre for Teaching and Learning.
Last year's inaugural event was an enormous success with more than 270 primary and secondary teachers from public, Catholic and independent schools attending the day of professional learning.
Teachers' Visit Day is a free event and is being held at the University's Callaghan campus on Monday 28 June 2010 from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
