Students from high schools across the Central Coast will learn about university life, when they visit the University of Newcastle's campus at Ourimbah tomorrow for the annual Schools Visit Day.

Representatives from the campus will spend the day talking to students about the wide range of degree programs on offer and University staff will be on hand to provide students with information about admissions, enrolment, HECS fees and scholarships.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Services), Dr Sue Gould, said Schools Visit Day was a unique opportunity for students to experience life on a university campus.

"This is a great chance for students coming close to the end of their high school education to get the information they need to make decisions about their future," Dr Gould said.

"Students will hear about the range of different programs and subject areas they can study at the University, which will help them in making choices about tertiary education.

"They will also have the opportunity to speak with current students about what being at university is really like, and take a tour of the facilities to explore all aspects of life on campus."

During Schools Visit Day, the Central Coast campus will host a total of 47 information workshops over eight separate sessions.

Schools Visit Day will be held from 9am to 2pm on Friday 11 June 2010 at the University of Newcastle's Central Coast campus.
