New agreement with Chinese university
The University of Newcastle and East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai (ECUST) are joining forces once again in the areas of chemical and environmental engineering.
Representatives of both universities have signed an articulation agreement allowing students to undertake the first part of their studies at ECUST and then transfer to Newcastle to complete their degrees.
This engineering agreement extends similar unions in place in the areas of business, commerce and information technology.
The University of Newcastle also awarded ECUST's President, Professor Xuhong Qian, a Conjoint Professor of Chemistry. ECUST's Vice President, Research and International Affairs, Professor Shandong Tu was awarded a Conjoint Professor of Engineering at Newcastle.
ECUST awarded University of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nicholas Saunders, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Global Relations), Professor Kevin McConkey, with Honorary Professor positions.
Both universities are strongly committed to continued collaboration in teaching, student and staff exchange, and research.
