Writing talent shortlisted for prestigious awards

Dr Karen Hitchcock and her first book Little White Slips are in the running for two prestigious literary awards.

Dr Karen Hitchcock and her first book Little White Slips are in the running for two prestigious literary awards.

Dr Hitchcock, a postgraduate student in creative arts and lecturer in medicine at the University of Newcastle, has been shortlisted for the UTS Glenda Adams Award for New Writing in the NSW Premier's Literary Awards. The winner will be announced on Monday 17 May 2010.

She has also been shortlisted for the Dobbie Encouragement Award, which was established via the will of librarian and writer Ms Nita May Dobbie. The winner will be announced on Wednesday 2 June 2010.
