Free catch-up vaccination clinic - Central Coast campus

Meningococcal C, Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR), Diphtheria, Tetanus & Pertussis and Flu vaccines will be provided free to eligible students at vaccination clinics at the University of Newcastle Central Coast campus.

When: From 9am-4pm: Thursday 15 April & Monday 10 May 2010

Who is eligible?

Meningococcal C vaccine:
Anyone with a Medicare card, aged up to 26 years, who has not previously received this vaccine is eligible for free Meningococcal C vaccine.

Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) vaccine:
Anyone with a Medicare card born since 1966 who does not have evidence of 2 previous doses of this vaccine is eligible for free MMR vaccine.

Diphtheria, Tetanus & Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine:
For a limited time, free pertussis (dTpa) vaccine is available for all parents, grandparents and regular carers of infants less than 12 months of age.

Influenza (Flu) vaccine:
The seasonal flu vaccine can be provided free to all Medicare card holders who are:

  • Aged 65 years and older
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples aged 15 years and over
  • People aged 6 months and over who are at risk of severe outcomes from seasonal influenza, such as those with chronic conditions, including cardiac disease, asthma, cystic fibrosis, diabetes and renal failure
  • Pregnant women.

The pandemic influenza strain (H1N1) is likely to be the main circulating strain this winter and is included in the seasonal flu vaccine.

The pandemic influenza vaccine (Panvax) is available for free for all people aged 6 months and older (including international students).

Each of these vaccines can also be provided by the Callaghan Health Service or by your local GP. Please note that the vaccine is free, but your GP may charge a consultation fee.
