The WorkCover NSW Research Centre of Excellence (WRCE) will host a visiting expert in safety science at the University of Newcastle's Central Coast campus this week.

Dr Benjamin Brooks from the Australian Maritime College at the University of Tasmania is an authority on human factors and safety management systems.

Director of the WRCE, Professor Derek Smith, said he was delighted to host such a renowned expert in this unique field of occupational health and safety.

"Hosting Dr Brooks will help pave the way for continued improvements in the analysis of safety-related data at the University of Newcastle," Professor Smith said.
