Competitive edge on offer at postgraduate study expo
With Australia's unemployment rate expected to peak next year, local job seekers are being offered a competitive edge in the marketplace.
The University of Newcastle will this week host an expo showcasing postgraduate study options and their benefits.
Recent research shows postgraduate study can boost starting salaries by more than $20,000*.
The Postgraduate Study Expo tomorrow will showcase almost 90 postgraduate study options offered by the University of Newcastle for 2010.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Global Relations), Professor Kevin McConkey, said flexibility underpinned the University's comprehensive postgraduate offerings.
"People undertaking postgraduate study often juggle work, family and a variety of other commitments. Our postgraduate offerings recognise the competing demands that might be blocking a return to study for some.
"The University offers postgraduate study across the full spectrum from single subjects to entire degrees, and face-to-face or online."
The University is one of the leading suppliers of online postgraduate coursework in Australia, and more than 3,000 students from over 60 countries are studying via GradSchool.com.au
Lecturers will be on-hand to talk with prospective students at the expo and provide advice about flexible study options.
The Postgraduate Study Expo will be held on Thursday 5 November from 4 - 8pm at the Harbourview Function Centre, Queens Wharf, Wharf Road, Newcastle.
