Acclaimed director returns to old stomping ground
David Berthold - University of Newcastle graduate and leading Australian theatre director - will visit the University today to provide first-hand guidance to current students hoping to make it big in the theatrical arts industry.
David, who is the Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer of La Boite Theatre Company, completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree at the University of Newcastle in 1985.
During his visit to Newcastle, David will run a workshop with drama students on one of Australia's most widely performed plays - Nick Enright's Blackrock. David directed the premiere production for Sydney Theatre Company in 1995.
David will also speak with students studying a Bachelor of Arts degree and deliver a special presentation for the Careers Service to discuss the value of a liberal arts education for those keen to work in creative industries.
