University leads way with best practice accreditation

The University of Newcastle has become the first Australian university to receive accreditation from the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) as a Project Managed Organisation (PMO).

The University of Newcastle has become the first Australian university to receive accreditation from the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) as a Project Managed Organisation (PMO).

The accreditation follows an independent assessment of the University's project management practices, as established and managed by the University's Services' Project Office.

"This accreditation recognises the University meeting best practice and professional principles," Dr Sue Gould, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Services), said. "It is evidence of the foundation created for consistent business project success across all University activities."

Mr Ian Baxter, General Manager, Australian Institute of Project Management, will present the accreditation to Dr Sue Gould, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Services), on Wednesday 9 September 2009.
