Professor Ernest (Gene) Moore, Chief and Professor of Surgery, Denver Health Medical Centre, University of Colorado Health Sciences Centre, will present the annual John Irvine Hunter Memorial Lecture.
Focusing on the current status of 'HBOCs' (blood substitutes) in trauma care, the lecture will form part of the Newcastle Hospitals Congress three-day series of lectures and seminars.
The annual lecture is dedicated to the memory of the late Dr John Irvine Hunter. A brilliant anatomist, he was at the forefront of research and education, becoming Chair of Anatomy at the University of Sydney when he was only 25.
The lecture was established in 1998 and funded through a $100,000 donation by his son, Dr Irvine Hunter, to the University of Newcastle.
