Bill Gladstone accepts new appointment
Director of the University of Newcastle's research group Sustainable Use of Coasts and Catchments and Associate Professor in Marine Science, Bill Gladstone, will be joining the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in 2010.
Associate Professor Gladstone has accepted the position of Professor and Head of Department, Environmental Sciences at UTS starting January.
This is a prestigious appointment, with Associate Professor Gladstone taking on the leadership of a department with a high profile research centre supported by UTS. The appointment will provide Associate Professor Gladstone with a prominent position for engaging nationally and internationally in his field of expertise.
Based at the Central Coast campus, Associate Professor Gladstone also holds the position of Deputy Director, Central Coast (Research).
"I know Bill has valued his time at Ourimbah and the many friends he has made, and the opportunities working here has provided for him in his career and enjoying the Central Coast lifestyle," Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director, Central Coast campus, Professor Stephen Crump said.
"I have valued his support and loyalty and particular Bill's work helping me build the research profile of the campus has been invaluable and will be hard to replicate.
"However, I'm sure the Marine Discovery Centre and the sinking of the HMAS Adelaide off Terrigal next year will tempt Bill back to us, even if only for visits."
