The UON Foundation has today launched a special campaign to highlight the generosity of Newcastle and thank the University's many donors.

CEO Louise O'Connell said that in the past 10 years people had contributed more than $30 million in donations and bequests to the University through the UON Foundation.

"Community members, graduates, and business and industry, through their generosity over the past decade have shaped not only the University but also the community. The impact of their generosity reaches well beyond the Hunter.

"Their support has helped advance cancer and other critical health research, has improved the sustainability of our local environment, ensured access to university for many students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and much more.

"The generosity of these inspirational people demonstrates a great respect for the University, and a great passion for the Hunter and the role of education in its future."

The UON Foundation is responsible for encouraging philanthropic support for the University.
