Volunteers are needed for a research study investigating the accuracy of the Australian Child and Adolescent Eating Survey.

Volunteers are needed for a research study investigating the accuracy of the Australian Child and Adolescent Eating Survey.

University of Newcastle researchers are looking to recruit families who have two parents/carers and a child aged between 8 and 11 years who are classified as being within the healthy weight range. The child must have no major health conditions and not be taking any medications that may influence their body weight.

Study aims:

  • To determine how accurately children report what they eat and drink using a new survey
  • To determine how accurately parents report what their child eats and drinks, as well as what physical activity their child undertakes
  • Parents will gain valuable information about their child's body composition, physical activity levels, dietary intake, and resting energy expenditure

Travel to and from the University on two occasions for assessments will be required and participants will be given $20 for travel reimbursement after completing the assessment sessions.

Interested parents can contact Dr Tracy Burrows for further information and to find out if you are eligible to participate.
