University celebrates end-of-year in Port Macquarie

The University of Newcastle's award-winning Chamber Choir will headline a week of activities celebrating another successful year at the Port Macquarie campus.
University Week will run at the Port Macquarie campus from Monday 8 December to Friday 12 December 2008.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Kevin McConkey, said the week was a great way to wrap up the academic year and celebrate the University's achievements on the Port Macquarie campus.
Monday 8 December 2008
Professor Jody Kretzmann, an international expert in community-orientated policy, will present a public seminar at the Port Macquarie campus.
Professor Kretzmann is the Director of the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Institute in the United States. The ABCD approach encourages communities to focus on their own unique combination of assets in order to support and build their future.
Professor Kretzmann is engaged in community building around the world and helps citizens mobilise local assets to plan and implement positive futures. While in Port Macquarie, Professor Kretzmann will also facilitate a workshop on community engagement for the University and local partners in the region.

Wednesday 10 December
After another successful year marked by taking out the final of the Seven Network's competition Battle Of The Choirs, the University of Newcastle Chamber Choir will perform for the Port Macquarie community.
The concert will feature a mix classical and Christmas music as well as some favourites from the Battle Of The Choirs competition.
The University of Newcastle Chamber Choir will perform on Wednesday 10 December at 7pm in the MacKillop Senior College Hall, Lochinvar Place, Port Macquarie.
Tickets cost $22 for adults, $15 for students and are available by calling 02 4921 5507 or from the Greater Port Macquarie Visitor Information Centre.
Friday 12 December
The University will celebrate another successful academic year at the Port Macquarie campus with a Completion Ceremony. Thirty-four students are this year finishing studies in nursing, information technology, business and education.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Kevin McConkey said it was extremely pleasing to see local students able to complete their studies in their home town.
"This ceremony will recognise students locally and allow them to celebrate with fellow students and family before the formal graduation ceremonies in Newcastle in 2009."
The Completion Ceremony will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Friday 12 December in the Graduates Restaurant in C Block, Port Macquarie campus, Widderson St, Port Macquarie.
