Senior primary students across the Hunter and Central Coast are already demonstrating an aptitude for motion pictures, and a unique collaboration between schools and the University of Newcastle aims to encourage and foster their talent.

Around 50 Year 5 and Year 6 students are working with University student mentors this week in the University's professional studio to create short films.

The theme for the films is "A Day in the Life of..." and each group has a unique subject to cover.

Twenty films of three to four minutes will be shown to family and friends at a special screening on Friday evening.
