The University Foundation has been established as a company in its own right. It is now to be known as UoN Foundation Ltd and staff are reminded that all financial contributions need to be made to the 'UoN Foundation'.

The role of the Foundation is to attract philanthropic support. Alumni, staff, community, business organisations and industry leaders have all given to the University. These donations support groundbreaking research, scholarships and other educational activities that may not have otherwise been possible.

Financial Donations made to the Foundation can:

• Enable researchers and students to contribute to the world's body of knowledge
• Honour the memory of a family member or a member of the community
• Support a scholarship that enables the less advantaged to attend University
• Improve University resources and facilities for students and the community.

The University of Newcastle Foundation is built on a very strong tradition that goes back to the origins of the University. This has helped shape the identity of the University of Newcastle and has provided it with a secure and solid base on which to build a University of distinction.
