The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is hosting internationally renowned expert on Open Source technology, Pia Waugh, at a seminar on Monday 18 August.

Co-hosted by LOGIN - Linux Owners Group in Newcastle - Ms Waugh will be discussing Open Source and the affect it is having on our day to day lives. She will also outline how Open Source works with Industry and why it has become a vital component of Computer Science and Technology.

Ms Waugh has strong ties to Linux Australia, holding past roles as both President and Vice President. She is a community leader both locally and internationally for the OLPC - One Laptop Per Child initiative and an advocate of Women in Computing.
