A new exhibition by renowned Sydney artist Leo Robba opens at the University Gallery on Wednesday 30 July.

'From Place to Place and Back Again' focuses on regionalism in Australian landscape painting and was inspired by the Newcastle, Maitland and Dungog areas.

Artist Leo Robba said "My family connection to the Hunter has led to an exploration of the landscape and this region, making a link with communities past and present.

"It is these connections with people and the region and its rich farming history that prompted me to inquire about regionalism and what it is that enables me to identify so intensely with this place."

Leo Robba is represented widely in public and private collections both nationally and internationally. His work is included in the Bundanon Trust Collection where he worked as an artist in residence.

The exhibition will feature closing words by Archibald prize winning artist Euan Macleod at 3.30pm on Saturday 9 August.

The University Gallery is open Thursday and Fridays 12noon - 6pm and Saturday 2pm - 5pm.
