Hunter businesses have banded together to invest in their industries' futures through a range of scholarships for Newcastle students, worth more than $50,000.

Bradken; Cutcher & Neale; Forsythes; Prosperity Advisers; Lawler Partners and Mr Neville Sawyer AM, have offered valuable financial assistance to four students at the University of Newcastle through their degree programs.

The scholarship recipients are:
Nik Kojic - University of Newcastle Industry Scholarship Scheme (UNISS). Sponsored by Bradken.

Nik is enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce and is the inaugural UNISS scholar for the Faculty of Business and Law. Under the scheme, he will undertake paid work placement with Bradken while completing his degree program.

The UNISS scheme provides students with financial support while studying and the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience.

Irene McQuade and Kimberley Bulmer - Faculty of Business and Law Accounting Scholarships. Sponsored by Cutcher & Neale, Forsythes, Prosperity Advisers and Lawler Partners.

Irene McQuade and Kimberley Bulmer, both studying a Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Commerce, will each receive this scholarship - designed for students from regional areas - to assist with the costs of textbooks, accommodation, travel and other expenses related to their studies.

Irene is from Kempsey and Kimberley is from Port Macquarie.

Levi Jardim - Neville Sawyer Scholarship in Business and Law (postgraduate studies).

Established in 2007, the annual Neville Sawyer Scholarship provides graduates in engineering, science and IT from the Hunter region with the opportunity to undertake postgraduate studies at the Newcastle Graduate School of Business. This scholarship will pay Levi's tuition fees for the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.

Levi graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Engineering (Software Engineering) degree in 2006 and is working for Makitron.

Neville Sawyer co-founder Ampcontrol in Newcastle in 1968, and has previously been named as among Australia's 'Top 100 Most Influential Engineers' by Engineers Australia.
