Attention Central Coast Students!
Free catch up vaccinations will be available to all Central Coast students at on campus clinics in the coming weeks.
An initiative of the University of Newcastle Health Service and Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Services, the Meningococcal C vaccine, Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) vaccine and Diphtheria, Tetanus & Pertussis (dTpa) vaccine will be provided free to eligible students.
The clinics will be held in the Student Services building at the Central Coast campus (Ourimbah) on Thursday 6 March and Monday 17 March from 9am to 4.30pm. No appointments are necessary.
Who is eligible for these vaccines?
Meningococcal C vaccine:
Anyone aged up to 26 years who has not previously received this vaccine is eligible for free vaccination at these clinics. This vaccine is also currently available free of charge at your local doctor or at the University Health Service.
Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine:
Anyone born since 1966 who does not have evidence of 2 previous doses of this vaccine is eligible for free MMR vaccine at this clinic. This can also be accessed free at your local doctor or from the Health Service.
Diphtheria, Tetanus & Pertussis (dTpa) vaccine:
This vaccine is scheduled at 15 years of age and is therefore normally only available free of cost to 15 year olds. All others are usually required to pay for this vaccine.
Anyone who was in high school in 2004 and did not receive this vaccine (Boostrix) as part of the 2004 NSW school-based dTpa vaccination program, or since then, may receive the vaccine free at these clinics . At other times you will need to talk to your local immunisation provider regarding access to this vaccine.
