University of Newcastle Advisory Days
Advisory Days at the University of Newcastle in January will enable prospective students to speak to University staff and students about study options, preferences, preference changes and alternate entry to the University.
Two Advisory Days will be held, on January 3 and 18, at the Newcastle, Central Coast and Port Macquarie campuses.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Services), Dr Sue Gould, said the Advisory Days were for all prospective students, but would be particularly useful for people who receive a higher or lower UAI than expected.
"A UAI can really change the options available to prospective students," Dr Gould said. "If they receive a higher UAI than expected, they may wish to change their preferences and explore different degree programs.
"If they receive a lower UAI than anticipated, staff will be able to help them with alternative entry pathways and other study options.
"Our Advisory Days are a chance for students to seek helpful, personalised advice about the choices they make."
The University's Student Hubs at the Newcastle and Central Coast campuses will be open for prospective students to change their preferences online via the UAC website, with the assistance of University staff.
Prospective students have until Friday 4 January 2008 to change their preferences for inclusion in the Main Round of the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) offers, which will be released at 9pm on Thursday 17 January 2008.
Late applications for 2008 will be accepted by UAC until Thursday 1 February 2008. Advisory Day details.
