The place of Aboriginal art in history

Nationally recognised Aboriginal art curator, Mr Djon Mundine OAM, will give a public lecture at the University of Newcastle on Wednesday. A member of the Bandjalung people of northern New South Wales, Mr Mundine will discuss the place of Aboriginal art in Australia's history.

Mr Mundine is renowned as the concept curator for the Aboriginal Memorial installation permanently exhibited at the National Gallery of Australia, and is currently the Indigenous Curator - Contemporary Art at the Campbelltown Art Centre.

Mr Mundine will present 'The Aboriginal Soliloquy' on Wednesday 12 September, from 1pm - 2pm, in room SAS2.05, Birabahn building. The public lecture is presented by the School of Humanities and Social Science in conjunction with the Umulliko Indigenous Higher Education Research Centre.
