Anyone thinking of going to University in 2008 is being reminded that on-time applications for entry into degree programs close this Friday 28 September 2007.
Applications for on-campus study will only be accepted online at the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) website at www.uac.edu.au.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Services), Dr Sue Gould, said the University of Newcastle offered more than 90 undergraduate degree programs across a broad range of disciplines.
"Whether you are just about to sit your HSC exams, are thinking about a change in career, or want to further your education, a degree program through the University of Newcastle can help you reach your goals," Dr Gould said.
"We are also offering guaranteed places for TAFE graduates with a completed Certificate IV level or higher in selected degree programs.
"The TAFE Guaranteed Entry Scheme offers graduates the opportunity to continue their studies and further their careers.
"In many cases TAFE graduates will also receive credit for their existing qualifications, giving them a head start on their degree programs."
Places are available for full or part-time study across a broad range of degree programs at the Newcastle, Central Coast and Port Macquarie campuses. A full list of degree programs available under the TAFE Guaranteed Entry Scheme is below.
Dr Gould said the University of Newcastle had a proven record of producing top quality graduates.
"Data from the Australian Graduate Survey shows 82 per cent of our graduates are in full-time work within four months of completing a degree program, and they also have higher than average employment rates and starting salaries," Dr Gould said.
"The University of Newcastle was also recently confirmed as being one of the top 400 universities in the world, and in the top 100 for engineering/technology and computer sciences."
While the deadline for on-time UAC applications is Friday 28 September, students can still submit applications through UAC until 1 February 2008, however these applications will attract a late fee.
