The place of Aboriginal art in history

Nationally recognised Aboriginal art curator, Mr Djon Mundine OAM, will give a public lecture at the University of Newcastle on Wednesday.

The School of Humanities and Social Science and the Umulliko Indigenous Higher Education Research Centre, Faculty of Education and Arts, present Djon Mundine OAM.

Curator, activist, writer, and occasional artist Djon Mundine OAM is a member of the Bandjalung people of northern New South Wales. He is renowned as the concept curator for the Aboriginal Memorial installation permanently exhibited at the National Gallery of Australia, and is currently Indigenous Curator - Contemporary Art at the Campbelltown Art Centre.

Djon Mundine will discuss Aboriginal art, at a lecture to be held on Wednesday 12 September, 1-2pm, in room SAS2.05, Birabahn building. University staff, students and members of the public are invited to attend.
