Fort Scratchley's history now online
The most comprehensive website on the history of Fort Scratchley has been launched by a researcher at the University of Newcastle.
Developed by Ms Susan Kerrigan, the website includes seven virtual tours showcasing Fort Scratchley's military, maritime, coal mining and theatrical history and includes stories from traditional land owners, the Awabakal people.
Completed as part of Ms Kerrigan's PhD studies, the website complements her documentary, Using Fort Scratchley, which focused on the history of the Fort and the battle to restore and protect it from vandalism.
The Living History of Fort Scratchley website includes a comprehensive timeline providing access to more than 150 images, 80 documents and newspaper articles, and more than 60 video clips.
