Funding for innovative social program - African Lions

The University of Newcastle's Family Action Centre has received $30,000 from The Foundation for Young Australians for an innovative social program for young African migrants in Newcastle.

The University of Newcastle's Family Action Centre has received $30,000 from The Foundation for Young Australians for an innovative social program for young African migrants in Newcastle.

The African Lions project, designed by the community and the Family Action Centre, aims to develop the social and language skills of young African people.

The program of recreational activities, including basketball, futsal and drumming, will provide opportunities for young African people in Newcastle to connect with the community.

The funding for African Lions is part of The Foundation for Young Australians Launch Pad grants stage two, which aim to support community development initiatives designed and delivered locally by young people.
