Volunteers needed for Community Connections

Monday 7 May 2007

The University of Newcastle is looking for volunteers from the community to team up with students and families from the Middle East as part of the Community Connections program.

The Community Connections program aims to assist international students to build connections with people from the local community.

The program has been operating for more than 10 years and over 500 local volunteers have supported international students and their families. Volunteers with their local knowledge and experience provide invaluable practical support for the families who are new to Australian culture.

The University is inviting people with a special interest in learning more about Middle Eastern culture and interested in volunteering, to contact Cherlene Robson on 02 4921 2066.

For interviews: Ruth Gresham, Manager Community Relationships - International, on 02 4921 5767.
