Why wait 'til 08? Mid-year university enrolments open now

Mid-year enrolment at the University of Newcastle is now open, with the University Admission Centre (UAC) taking applications from today.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Services), Dr Sue Gould, said the University of Newcastle offered a wide range of options for mid-year enrolment.

"The University is offering mid-year enrolment in 43 undergraduate degree programs across the Newcastle, Central Coast and Port Macquarie campuses," she said.

"There is no reason to wait until next year. Apply for the mid-year intake and you can get your degree program underway from July."

Prospective students have until 1 June 2007 to make an application via the UAC website at www.uac.edu.au and full details of all courses available at the University of Newcastle can be found at on our Mid-Year entry website.

To ensure people have all the information they need to make the right choice, the University is holding a series of evening information sessions:

• Central Coast, 22 May - Ourimbah Campus, Main Administration Building, 4pm to 7pm.
• Newcastle, 24 May - Callaghan Campus, Great Hall, 4pm to 7pm.
• Port Macquarie, 28 May - Port Macquarie Campus, Canteen B Block, from 6.30pm to 4pm to 7pm.

Dr Gould said choosing to do a university degree was an important career step that should pay dividends into the future.

"Latest data shows the University is producing work-ready graduates who have practical knowledge in their chosen field," she said.

"The Australian Graduate Survey 2006 showed that of University of Newcastle bachelor degree graduates who were available for full time work and aged under 25, 82 per cent are in full time employment within four months of completing their degrees.
