Additional Advisory Day for prospective students

The University of Newcastle will this week hold an additional Advisory Day for all prospective students, including those who did not receive an offer from the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) Main Round.

The University of Newcastle will this week hold an additional Advisory Day for all prospective students, including those who did not receive an offer from the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) Main Round.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Services), Dr Sue Gould said Advisory Day was for people who needed advice about study options, changing preferences and late applications.

"Some people may have missed out on the program they were hoping to study and are not sure what to do next. There are many options available to prospective students, but it is important they look into them straight away," Dr Gould said.

"University staff will be available at the Advisory Day to take prospective students through the process of changing preferences and lodging late applications step-by-step."

The Advisory Day will be held at the Callaghan campus on Friday 19 January 2007 which will be two days after the Main Round offers are released by UAC.

"The University of Newcastle will make further offers in subsequent UAC rounds in coming weeks. However, if applicants receive a Main Round offer they are strongly urged to accept their offer," Dr Gould said.

Preference changes to be considered in the Late Round will be accepted by UAC until Monday 22 January 2007. Late Round offers will be released by UAC on Wednesday 31 January 2007.

Late applications and preference changes to be considered for the Final Round will be accepted by UAC until Thursday 1 February 2007. Final Round offers will be released by UAC on Wednesday 7 February 2007.
