The University of Newcastle's School of Drama, Fine Art and Music will this month present the Boris Vian play, The General's Tea Party, a surrealist satire on the means and motives of modern war.
It features a childlike General, his equally immature colleagues, and their attempts to create a war for purely economic purposes.
Director Alex Newton said although written over 50 years ago, the play was still painfully relevant to our time, where war still occurred for questionable reasons.
After Vian's death, he became a hero to the 1968 student revolution, especially in France, where his fame as a writer also grew.
The production features 12 drama students, and will perform at the Drama Studio, the University of Newcastle Callaghan campus, from 20 - 23 September.
