New engaging fathers website a first for Australia
A new website launched by the University of Newcastle is the first in Australia dedicated to showing how family services and organisations can better include fathers.
The website is based on leading research by the Family Action Centre to develop the National Framework For Father-Inclusive Practice.

Encouraging Leaders of Tomorrow

Brad Webb, Chief Operating Officer of Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), was announced as winner of the inaugural Hunter Leadership Award at the Hunter Leadership Dinner last night.

Ourimbah Students celebrate National Herbal Medicine Week
Final year herbal therapies students at the University of Newcastle's Ourimbah campus will be celebrating National Herbal Medicine Week next week (11 to 17 September). As part of their celebrations they will be taking extra bookings at the Herbal Therapies Training Clinic that is held each Friday at the Ourimbah campus. Consultations are conducted by the final year students under the supervision of an experienced fully accredited herbalist.

Staff member named NSW ATSI Student of the Year
University of Newcastle staff member Allison Burgess has been named the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year, at the 2006 NSW Training Awards. The 23-year-old, who works with the University's Careers Service, was announced as the winner last night at the Awards Dinner in Sydney.
