Information Day at Ourimbah

Monday 11 September 2006

The University of Newcastle and TAFE NSW - Hunter Institute is gearing up for the annual Information Day to be held at the Ourimbah campus this Saturday (16 September), from 10am to 3pm.

The day will provide information and advice to prospective students and their families about study opportunities available from the University of Newcastle, TAFE NSW - Hunter Institute and the Central Coast Community College. It will also feature demonstrations, hands-on activities, live entertainment. A BBQ lunch is available.

Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director of the Central Coast Campuses, Professor Stephen Crump, said the Information Day provided the ideal opportunity to gather information for the all-important decision about study.

"The partnership between the University of Newcastle and TAFE NSW - Hunter Institute is unique and productive. It is going from strength to strength and growing steadily, particularly with new programs, in the University sector.

"Central Coast residents, both young and more mature, have embraced the opportunity to study locally. It's about getting a great education while enjoying an enviable lifestyle. You can gain high quality qualifications and still be able to maintain employment, family, personal and sporting commitments.

"The Ourimbah campus is a good option. It's easily accessible from either Sydney or Newcastle and services for students are extensive.

"If you are considering study in 2007, come along, talk to student advisers, academic staff, join in the activities and see the campus," Professor Crump said.

A series of presentations about the University and TAFE programs have been planned including demonstrations from the Marine Science, Oral Health and Fine Art areas, TAFE Tourism and Hospitality, TAFE Building and Construction, as well as a comprehensive display from the Central Coast Community College.

Professor Crump added that novelty items, children's activities, live entertainment and a book sale at the Co-op Bookshop will round out the day. "Put the date in your diary - Saturday 16 September between 10am and 3pm. Entry is free. Parking is free and all visitors have the chance to win an i-Pod - this year's door prize," Professor Crump said.
