The University of Newcastle has further strengthened its commitment to higher education in Port Macquarie by advertising a new administrative position for the Port Macquarie Tertiary Education Campus.
The position, to be advertised this weekend, is calling for a suitably qualified person with a background in tertiary or higher education.
The role will be responsible for the provision of advice and support at the Port Macquarie campus to ensure consistent, effective and efficient management of student and academic administration matters and support systems, and the provision of student-focused service delivery.
Academic Registrar Gail White says the new position is the result of the University's rapid growth in Port Macquarie.
"More than 240 students are now studying degrees in Nursing, Business or Information Technology on the campus," says Gail. "Another 70 students are enrolled in a Graduate Diploma in Education by distance learning and a large group of students are completing the Open Foundation by distance program."
"The University of Newcastle is committed to providing quality services to all students at all of its campuses. This new position will be the central contact person for all University students and staff at the Port Macquarie campus and will liaise with the various Faculties and units in Newcastle."
Gail says with further growth planned by the University for Port Macquarie, the demand for services and support requires an onsite administrator to assist students and staff.
The University's plan to continue growth in the area by offering further degree programs was boosted by the news last year that the Federal Government will invest $3.47 million in 2008 for the expansion of teaching and library facilities.
