It might seem like an unusual ask, but for one of the University’s students it was a huge honour to lead 10 camels along one of Newcastle’s beaches.
The unusual ask was fine, the camels were reasonably well behaved, but the honour – to be part of Australia’s recently launched $180M international advertising campaign – was ‘absolutely fantastic’, according to Kelli Sparkes, a final year Bachelor of Education (Primary) student.
Her line, “We’ve had the camels shampooed,” is just one of the quirky and attractive elements of the advertisement that asks “So, where the bloody hell are you?”
The University’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Ms Andrea Hammond, says the ad is very colourful and Kelli’s involvement had attracted plenty of positive attention within the University of Newcastle community. “We are thrilled that one of our students is involved. Kelli’s friendly smile will certainly make a major contribution to the positive image of Australia overseas,” she says.
