The University of Newcastle is offering 30 funded (Commonwealth Supported) places in the Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary) at Port Macquarie for 2006.
The Diploma will be available by distance with two on campus workshops per semester, enabling applicants with a first-degree status to obtain a teaching degree in only one year.
Pat Chipchase, Project Coordinator at the University of Newcastle's Port Macquarie campus says the features of the NSW Institute of Teachers Accreditation program include face-to-face workshops at the Port Macquarie campus, as well as an online option for those with busier personal schedules.
"The advantage of the program is that students will be able to study a significant part of their degree from their home computers," says Pat.
"The online learning option will enable students to balance study with personal commitments, yet still have access to a high quality university education, providing a recognised pathway to becoming an accredited teacher."
"The opportunity to choose teaching as a career in Port Macquarie has never been so accessible," says Pat.
