University Late Round Offers

The University of Newcastle has made a total of 636 late round offers to students wanting to study in 2005.

The University has been able to make 495 offers for HECS places, 139 domestic fee paying offers and 2 international fee paying offers in this late round.

HECS places were offered across the University's 74 undergraduate degree programs and full fee paying offers on 59 undergraduate degree programs.

290 late round offers have gone to current school leavers (46%) and 344 (56%) to non-school leavers plus 2 international.

310 late round offers went to Hunter region applicants, 144 to Central Coast applicants and 4 to Port Macquarie.

All offers for 2005
The oldest new student is a 64 year-old woman from Tamworth, offered a place in the Bachelor of Fine Art.

The youngest is a 15 year-old girl also from Tamworth, offered a place in the Bachelor of Medicine. She has decided to defer her study and is expected to take up her place at the University of Newcastle in 2006.

The most distant offers the University has made are to a student in London to enter the Bachelor of Commerce program and a student in New York to a Combined Law degree.

19 students from Tasmania and 6 from the Northern Territory have been offered places at the University of Newcastle for 2005.

The late round offers are the last offers for HECS funded places at the University of Newcastle. Final offers for 2005 places at the University of Newcastle will be for fee-paying places.

The University of Newcastle will guarantee students a fee paying place in their first preference program if they have received the required UAC level and pass other entry requirements particular to the program.

Students must accept their late round offers by Tuesday 8 February 2005 and final round offers will be released on Wednesday 9 February 2005.
