By the time the University of Newcastle turns 60 years old in 2025, the global higher education landscape will be transformed.
More universities will be established across the world as governments invest in building knowledge-based economies. Competition will be intense internationally for talented academic and professional staff and students, and new technologies will continue to redefine the teaching and learning experience in exciting ways. In this new world, partnerships will be the key to success and to addressing complex global challenges.
NeW Directions is the University of Newcastle's response to this radically changing global landscape. Through NeW Directions, we have articulated our 2025 Vision to be a global leader in each of our spheres of achievement. Engaging with our partners, we will ensure that it is world-class innovation that supports the development of strong communities in our regions and across the globe. UoN has set ambitious targets in our lead priorities in education, and research and innovation for 2013 to 2015; and developed strategies to support these priorities through our future workforce, our campuses and facilities, and the investment required in our systems and processes to achieve our vision.
This is a remarkable and exciting time to be part of the global higher education landscape, and to be part of the University of Newcastle. It is with the support and engagement of our communities, that we will achieve our vision, and make a significant and lasting contribution to the economic prosperity and social cohesion of our regions across the world.
