What is the Web Clinic?
Running every Thursday, the Web Clinic is an informal discussion environment where you can raise any questions or issues relating to web publishing with a staff member from the Web Services team. Whether you’re a new user or an old hand at the system, come along to ask a question or share your knowledge with your colleagues.
Why the change?
In the recent survey of new CMS users, a number of staff indicated that they felt they would benefit from hands-on support in web publishing beyond the initial system training. The Web Clinic won’t replace formal training in CMS2, but can provide you with follow-up support on any areas where you might need further assistance.
What kind of issues should I bring to the Web Clinic?
We're happy to cover any issues or questions related to web publishing, from how-to CMS queries through to advice about site planning and maintenance. The format of the sessions is informal, and we will try to spend an equal amount of time on every issue. As far as possible, we’ll provide practical system walk-throughs and demonstrations, and provide advice on where to go for more information. Please note that the Web Clinic is not a lab-based training environment.
Do I need to book in?
The sessions run on a drop-in basis with no need for appointments. If there are any particular issues you’d like to see covered in an upcoming session, we’d appreciate it if you could send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Where else can I find information about the Web Clinics?
You can find other information, or start discussions about a particular Web Clinic session from the Web Publishers Cafe on Blackboard. Every web publisher is added to the Web Publishers Cafe once they complete CMS2 training and get their permissions.
The Web Publishers Cafe also has useful tip sheets and reports of any known bugs or issues within the CMS and how to get around them.
What if my request is urgent?
If you have an urgent web support request or need to report a major system issue, contact Web Services on email@example.com and we’ll attend to your request. Any other support requests will be directed to the next Web Clinic session.
What if I can't attend a session?
