Dr Didier Talamona

Didier Talamona has a PhD in Mechanical/Civil Engineering from the University of Clermont - Ferrand, France. The outcomes of his work on the buckling of steel columns under fire conditions have been accepted and published as a part of the European Standards (Eurocode 3 Part 1.2).

After his PhD he was awarded an Individual Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Commission for a two-year post-doctorate at the University of Liege, Belgium.

Didier has a strong publishing background; his articles have been published in many international fire safety and civil engineering journals.

He is a reviewer for the Fire Safety Journal and Journal of Structural Engineering (ASCE). He is a member of the organising and scientific committee for the SIF'08 (5^Th International Conference on Structures In Fire). He is also a reviewer for the 9th IAFSS Symposium.

Didier has research expertise in Fire Safety Engineering, Numerical Modelling, Programming and Civil Engineering.

He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and a member of the International Association for Fire Safety Science (IAFSS).

Didier taught at the University of Liege, Belgium, Hô-Chi-Minh University of Technology, Vietnam, and the University of Ulster, UK, before joining the University of Newcastle, Singapore campus, in 2007.

He is teaching Computational Mechanics and is coordinator for Final Year Projects.
