The University of Newcastle's Alumni Chapter in Singapore was launched in 2002 and gained official registration status in 2003. The Chapter was established to create a platform for the promotion of networking and facilitation of communication between graduates of the University of Newcastle in Singapore. In particular, the Chapter aims to:
- Encourage, foster and strengthen relationships between The University of Newcastle and the University's alumni residing in Singapore
- Promote continuing relationships between all of the University's alumni residing in Singapore
- Encourage, profile and promote the achievements of the University's alumni residing in Singapore
- Strengthen ties between the community in Singapore and the University.
The Alumni Chapter is also building relationships within the wider network of Australian University Alumni to allow members to participate in activities at a broader level. Singapore's chapter members hold some of the highest ranking positions in public and private life including government and business leaders in a range of fields including finance, health, urban design and development, and information technology.
