New to the Library? Need to get started?  Here's a quick guide for staff and students. If you're not one of our staff or students check the Other users page for details of services available to you.

Library Orientation and Tours

Find out all you need to know about our Library services both online and on campus in our Orientation Guide.

Library tours run in O-Week and the first few of weeks of each semester.
For dates and times of tours visit the Library Orientation Tours website.


Your student or staff card is your library card.  Find out more about borrowing.

Logging on to computers on campus

Use your student or staff number and password to log on to computers. Find out more about Student Accounts or talk to the staff at the Library Service Zones.

Library PIN

You will need a library PIN to perform a range of tasks including requesting and renewing items, and accessing Course Readings and MyLibrary.  More information about creating and using your PIN is available from the Library PINS page, or ask staff at the Library Service Zones for assistance.

Printing and Photocopying

Add money to your student card to print or photocopy.

Finding resources

The Library catalogue (NEWCAT+) is where you start to look for books, e-resources, Audio Visual and other items.

Course readings is where your lecturer may put recommended readings and items in high demand.

Use the Databases to find journal articles and scholarly information.

Can't find it in our catalogue? Try to get books delivered from any of the other 12 participating Universities.

Research and Training
